The Advantages of Using Aluminium Epoxy and Hydrophylic Coating Coils!

Hydrophylic Coating Coils

When considering the performance and cost-effectiveness, there’s no doubt to the fact that aluminium is the best and the most appropriate fin material for the purpose of finned block heat exchange. Aluminium smartly side lines its counterparts with numerous advantages. To state some – its high transmission, resistance power, lightness, pocket friendly and easily availability are the major highlighting factors. However, there exist conditions wherein the metal may fail to stand true to its nature, such as in environments that are acidic, salty or moist. Aluminium fins degrade to quite an extent that they are only subject to replacement only. For such harsh conditions, special coating materials are used for extending the lifespan of the exchanger. Hydrophylic coated coils are an example to quote.

In addition to Hydrophylic coating, another most commonly used coating material is epoxy. The residence power to corrosion of these two coatings gives satisfactory results, and hence, they are widely accepted in the market as well. In addition to this, the two coating methods are quite economical and effective in nature. They help protect the metal’s surface against corrosive influences such as salt in air, humidity, and more.

In applications and equipment where water plays a major role, hydrophylic coated coils are used. This is because, water can be easily removed without it staying on the fin for much long. The coils are not easy to wet and hence, enable the incoming fluids to flow easily though the coils and off the outer surface well. Hydrophylic coating coils are primarily effective in areas where excess condensation takes place, such as that in the air conditioners, refrigerants, etc.

Moreover, the coating is also known for exhibiting fine performance – offering protection against water in high temperature areas and salty environments, specifically. Veterans of the industry state that aluminium surfaces when layered with blue hydrophylic coating performs 3 times better and longer under 5% NaCl spray than original, raw aluminium fins.

Thanks to such coatings that aluminium fins, the corrosive resistance of metals which are otherwise costly and daunting to process, can be obtained at a much economical rate. The larger picture to look at is that its essential to determine the need for accuracy and apply the coating to enable the metal to sustain its properties in long run. The better the coating, the more it shall bore benefits in the longrun. AHU coils used in refrigerants, air conditioners, heavy duty machines in industries and many home appliances, must have epoxy or hydrophylic coated coils.
